Welcome! Super excited to see you here!

Hi. Great to see you here. I’m Virginia and I am a Scot living in the sunny Cayman Islands.

This blog is a one-stop resource for actionable advice that covers every part of a woman’s life: fitness, nutrition, menopause, relationships, money, family, career, styles, skills, hobbies and much more. Through weekly podcasts and articles, I hope to delve into stuff that will make our lives better and more fun.

Imagine the girl guides or girl scouts for women.

My mission is to help women grow up well, reach their potential, become better mentors, wives, partners, mothers, friends and people and live a life fulfilled, flourishing and excelling. “No matter what happens, we can deal with it.”

I started training when I was 15 years old because I was small, skinny and I had no confidence. I turned 50 in 2020 and other than a few blips at 18, during my 3 pregnancies and again when I later discovered I was perimenopausal, I’ve trained and eaten healthily almost every day.

I remember my first trip to the gym and the feeling of power I had as I picked up the weights. My goal is to still be doing squat jumps, push ups and pull ups at 90.

I took a gap year when I was 18 (between school and university) and travelled around the US for 6 months. I put on close to 3 dress sizes from eating pizza and sugary snacks. I felt awful and started taking laxatives to help me lose weight. I had pretty much been on a perpetual diet since 15 and this was really the straw that broke the camel’s back.

When I got back from the US, I started University and I joined the British territorial army. I failed the basic fitness test. I can’t begin to tell you how embarrassed I was. I was last…… I was bent over almost throwing up and I couldn’t breathe. I felt so heavy and so humiliated. I had put on so much weight and become so unfit. I vowed that I would never be unfit and unhealthy again. I passed the test a few months later and I went on to become a member of the training team with the army and got into the best shape ever and I stayed that way. I met my husband when we went to an army barracks in Yorkshire to compete. By that time I was an officer and our team leader. My team won and I won the love of my life.

My fitness kept me sane during my career as a lawyer and I always found a way to fit in my workouts even when I was super busy. I’d plan out my days, organize and prep my meals and create quick workouts that kept me lean, strong and fit.

I’ve worked out how to eat all the foods I enjoy and still not put on any weight; what equipment works and what’s a waste of time; how the body changes as we age and how, if we respect those changes, your body will respect you back. I’ve worked out too how to make delicious food in a jiffy ……I’m a bit of a gadget queen. On this site I will share all of my learnings with you.

I qualified as a lawyer in my early 20s and enjoyed a long career both in the UK and Cayman. I made partner at 32 whilst pregnant with my daughter Eva. My son Dane was 3 at the time. I went to leave the profession and since then I’ve set up multiple businesses both bricks and mortar and online as a fitness and business coach.  I share my thoughts on my business page. Oh and I had a surprise third baby……best thing ever!
